I want to mention that the app TONARA is an incredible tool for teaching music online. With Tonara, you’ll be able to send student assignments, track practice time, chat with students, award points, send links, PDFS, and more. YouTube Channel
My Personal YouTube channel has more than 600 video tutorials that would be extremely helpful for you to use during online lessons. You can send a student a link directly to a song within your video calling software. Here’s the link to the channel to check it out.
Carol Matz Piano Download
Carol Matz has generously put together a free 54-page download of music and teaching materials at all levels. These online materials can easily be used with your students during online lessons. You can email students a PDF of the songs or your can screen share activities or worksheets during a lesson. You and your students have permission to print any or all of the PDF if you wish, or use directly on a tablet; you may forward the PDF to your students.
FREE 54-page PDF Download Includes:
• Piano Arrangements at All Levels
• Happy Birthday to You (at 3 Levels)
• Activity Sheets
• Technique Pages
• Teaching Rhythm Patterns (with Food!) Packet
• Teaching Ragtime Packet
Once you’ve downloaded the PDF you may wish to send only a few songs to specific students. When you open the download you can simply “save as” and change the name of the document for the student you want to send music to. Now you can remove all of the pages you don’t need so you aren’t sending them all 54 pages but just the specific pages you want them to have and print. Remember to hit save again and then attach the document in an email. Each PDF viewer is different but you should be able to just delete pages or remove them.
Student Setup Checklist
Send this checklist to your students to help them quickly and confidently get set up to have online lessons from their home. I suggest that you send them the checklist and then go over it with them so they know exactly what they need. You could also ask your students parents to go through the list with the student and let you know if they have any questions.
Again, teachers, I want you to have full confidence that online teaching is a solution for you now and moving forward. This is not just a temporary option!
